Pavement ants are smaller than carpenter ants and usually will have their colonies outside of buildings and homes. They get this name since they usually build their colonies beneath or near paved areas like sidewalks and driveways. They are much smaller than carpenter ants and don’t threaten any structural damage. However, they can still be disruptive to a property and aggravating to deal with.
These ants are much smaller than carpenter and other ant species. Typically only about 1/8th of an inch, these small ants can enter through the smallest of spaces. They will enter your Springfield home in search of food to bring back to their colony, so any crumbs or food in unsealed containers will attract them.
